All the guys sat by the wall and discussed their shared hatred of the song Let It Go! Can we let that song go for a little bit??
The birthday boy and his brother at the pizza lunch.
I was in charge of dropping Maggie off at camp a few times last week which meant Rowan got to visit his favorite dog statue every time. It's just his size and he loves petting it. So adorable!
2. Friday afternoon we went back to visit Charlotte and her friends at the Myriad Gardens before the exhibit finished this weekend. Able and Kari's niece and nephew were in town seeing it for the first time which made it that much more fun. Of course everyone played in the Thunder Fountain again at the end to cool off on a very hot day.
Visiting the real Wilbur
Zane's new America outfit!
Rowan kissing Wilbur
Brendan and Brody playing in the rain.
3. Sunday was Everette's actual Batman party at the zoo. My whole family wore or purchased Batman shirts for the occasion. It was lots of hot fun!
4. Every child got a little stuffed zoo buddy to carry with them all day and there was a scavenger hunt which included things like taking a picture with the animal that was your zoo buddy. Zane and Rowan both found statues of their zoo buddies right before we left and were extremely excited!!
Rowan's froggy who he named Ribbit
And Zane's zebra which he named American Dancer, not to be confused with American Pharoah.
5. We saw all sorts of things including the new baby elephant, the baby gorilla, and all of Oklahoma Trails. Zane was most excited to show Uncle Able the Herpetarium, where the day before a baby McGregor Pit Viper had been born (as seen on Twitter). So imagine his devastation when we found out the whole building was closed. Ant Kari saved the day with the idea of petting sting rays instead.
To be fair Zane did see lots of snakes on the Oklahoma Trails, including numerous rattle snakes, so he was really fine!
6. Now we are fully into Zane's birthday week, though decently exhausted from all of last weeks activities. Yesterday and today I've been trying to rest and prepare for more partying this weekend. Yesterday morning went to the Rocket park before it got too hot. Rowan apparently can get to the top of the rocket and down the huge slide all by himself now which is amazing when you see his tiny body up that high. He was very proud of himself and walked around saying, "I too big Mamma" all morning, which is oh so true.
Going down the slide together is much more fun!
7. Yesterday evening was the last baseball game Brendan had that wasn't at the same time as Zanes. Zane really wanted to go, but with some scheduling issues this meant we only had time for a quick picnic in the park before his game. It was also a million, humid degrees outside, but the Falcons played a great game and Brendan even got to play second base for awhile and was amazing in his red cleats! Such a baseball man these days!!
Zane at our picnic followed by climbing on statues. Great fun!
Number 20 up to bat!
The little boys laid across this bench saying funny things to each other then cracking up. Like "What the heck??" and "Oh my gosh!!"
8. Grandma stayed out our house last night and we were both unbelievably exhausted this morning. This meant that Zane got to open one of his birthday presents early so we could watch Penguins of Madagascar this morning. Such a cute movie and perfect calm activity on a lazy, resting day.
9. This evening was Zane's last tball game. It was a drizzly evening but after a month of rain cancellations everyone was ready and willing to power through some drizzle to finish up the season. Zane had a great game with two big hits, he got an out at first, and had fun playing in the outfield with dad. I was sitting under a tree in the behind the outfield fence which made playing defense that much more exciting.
I tried to get a pregame picture before we left for the game. This wink and the gun shot was the best I could get out of him. Incapable of smiling like a real person on command these days.
Korenaki ready for a big play in the outfield. Sadly there were no big plays in the outfield today.
10. At the end of the game every kid got a baseball with their name and number on it, which of course Zane was extremely excited about. It was a great season for the Little Rascals and Zane can't wait to play tball again soon!
Thanks Grandma for coming out and cheering in the rain!!
Rowan's tbal quote of the season is " I bobobobo," translation "I play baseball with Bobo." It seriously is just the same sound repeatedly, hysterical!
10.
