Ten on Tuesday

1. We are thoroughly enjoying Grandma B's visit. Grandma bought Zane a little shopping cart which has led to hours of "grocery shopping" fun in the basement. It goes along perfectly with the amazing cash register she brought him as well. All his toys get to take rides in the cart, there are pretend car rides "home," followed by taking the groceries "inside" and eating. We are fully in pretend play land here and it is wonderful. Rowan is also enjoying cuddling time with Grandma..

Zane wanted to be in the picture, but didn't want to put down his spatula.

2. This weekend Grandma and Zane did a little art work, butterfly hand prints, complete with googly eyes. We are really missing the great outdoors and are reaching for things to entertain my stir crazy boy. He occasionally gets to go on short shopping trips with whoever is making the run to the store that day, but what he really needs is a good hour or so at a park. With highs in the thirties that doesn't seem to be happening anytime time soon. However, I heard this evening that Saturday's high is going to be 60 degrees so we, along with the rest of St. Louis, will be out and about somewhere.

3. Of course the other go to inside activity is cooking. Daddy and Zane made some amazing brownies Sunday and Zane went all out with his spatula licking, check it out. In the background of the pictures you can see the finished product of our butterfly art from earlier in the day.

4. Also this weekend we finally did Rowan's footprints that they forgot to do in the hospital, what with him being quite blue, the nurses have a few other things to do after he was born. Zane wanted to take part in the fun as well.

5. Yesterday was our first venture outside of the house with both boys. To be fair this outing was with Grandma so doesn't really count and I still have no idea how I'm going to manage that on my own, since I can't lift Zane for a while. I used my Moby wrap that my sister got me for Christmas and after watching a You Tube video to refresh my memory of how to wrap it around me, it worked great! Zane did surprisingly well listening and we ended our trip with Rowan pooping on his own for the first time since we got home from the hospital, success!!!!

6. Ok time for some adorable photos. Here Rowan in his cousin Brendan's baby outfit. I remember dressing little tiny Brendan up in this during my two week stay at the Richard's house, in DC, after he was born. I loved it then and love it even more on my very own tiny baby. Zane loved that the zipper has a tiny mouse on it, so cute!

 7. Lots of my friends have stopped by, baring presents for both of my boys, and lunch for mom and I. I am so glad that my friends are getting to see little Rowan, I am loving the lunch, and Zane is thoroughly enjoying all his big brother presents. He has gotten a woody doll, a huge tub of Mega Blocks, and a dinosaur egg that we got to watch hatch over the weekend. This is something I had envisioned happening when Zane was born but after Zane was diagnosed, I was in a deep depression, so never asked anyone to come over, and I'm sure no one really knew what to say. It is one of the very normal thing that we are really enjoying this time around. Thanks to everyone for coming to visit, feel free to come by anytime, we will be hanging out here for the next few weeks.

8. On a Rowan health update his thrush is slightly better, but still there, and kind of comes and goes. I don't know how long it is suppose to take for the medicine to work, but Rowan hates the medicine and I feel bad making him scream bloody murder four times a day. I guess when I run out of Nystatin I will call the doctor back and see if there is anything else we should be doing. He now is getting Karo syrup in pretty much all of his bottles to try to help with the pooping, as well as pear juice once a day.  If this regimen doesn't help I am going to change his formula, even if his doctor doesn't think it will help. I am thoroughly enjoying that pooping issues are our biggest problem this maternity leave. I find myself worrying about it occasionally and then literally laugh out loud. Everything it totally fine!

9. Rowan had his newborn pictures taken this weekend. Our normal picture lady came to our house and Rowan slept through the entire hour and a half photo shoot, except the last five minutes, when he was eating. So no pictures of his dark blue eyes, but tons of adorable sleeping baby pictures, maybe a handful of brother pictures, and hopefully at least one good family photo in the mix. Zane was not really feeling being part of the photo shoot and I was not fighting that particular battle.

10. Now that it is officially March it was time to bust out the Easter decorations. Or maybe I was trying to find something else to entertain Zane. Either way it is fully Easter Egged out here now. Zane was a great helper in our decoration process and after a short conversation about the Easter Bunny pulled up a chair by the door, waiting for "the bunny" to show up with his candy. Not yet.... soon.
