Here is a quick over view of how the room looked when Zane was a baby. Zane's baby room was loosely nautical themed. When I was pregnant with Zane I spent a lot of time searching the internet for the cutest sheets, window covers, and other adorable things to fill his room with. We painted the room yellow so we we could use it for all boys or girls we might have while living here. I also spent quite a bit of time in Etsy conversations designing Zane's letters so they would match his window valence and boat sheets. It is now obvious that this was silly and that with no children I had way too much time on my hands. Mom framed the Mary Engelbreit nursery rhyme puzzle that I had done in college, saving it for a babies room one day. Fun fact about the puzzle is that there is one piece missing. Mom claims she didn't do this on purpose, however I maintain it might be an attempt to push my OCD self over the edge. I find it fun now that I have mellowed, but admit that it did drive me crazy initially. Here is Zane's room, since I didn't get to blog it before. My favorite part of the room, still, is the gorgeous furniture that I still wish I had a big kid version of.
Little Zane in his crib with his fun boat sheets.
These are the adorable boat button canvases that we made at Zane's baby shower. They were made using buttons from my Grandma Dotter's button collection. They were a great personal touch to the his room and have now moved with him to his big boy room.Everyone signed the one above canvas, with well wishes, from my friends and family. Love it!
Now on to Rowan's new nursery. The room is loosely bug themed, with other random things I liked as well. The prep for this was much shorter, mostly taking place during long night shifts when I didn't have much to do. I bought new curtains, a bug rug, a cute bug mobile, and a new basket for his changing table that loosely matched everything else better. I wanted there to be some things that made it "his" room. I found two prints online that I really enjoyed as well as a new sign, both of which I love and make me happy when I go in the room, even in the middle of the night, which is key. Here is the final product. I still don't have much to put on his shelves, but I'm sure we will acquire somethings along the way, otherwise it's done and I love it.
I made the bug canvases with mom, not as cute as the boats, but still a fun personal touch.
The "I love you to the moon and back" sign was in the room when it was Zane's, but Rowan has the new star and moon pictures. The cross is the one I bought after dad died but never brought myself to hang it up, nowhere felt right. It felt right to put it up in his name sake's room. Mom bought him the lady bug, that is so cutely climbing on the cross, just for fun. His Mickey hat is now being displayed as well. Zane had a sailing ship up on the shelf, to go along with the lyrics to the song mom wrote for him. The sail boat is now on a shelf above his big boy bed.
This is the new sign I bought and love. I initially found it when I thought I was having a girl, but it works for a boy just as well. This replaced Zane's "You are my sunshine" sign which will go elsewhere soon.
And the newest addition, that was a real game changer, our new recliner and the super soft monkey blanket from Mom. Zane is showing them off and loves to play in the new chair. Zane had a rocker that look pretty much exactly the same, sans the reclining feature. It has now moved to the big boy room so Rowan and I have a place to sit while playing in Zane's room.
There you go, the over view of the boy's baby room. I should do a post on Zane's big boy room for those of you who haven't seen it, it is tons of fun. Now we can remember the "nursery" after we move on to our next house. There have been lots of memories made in that tiny room!

Cute, cute, cute! You will love having documented these things once you are all older and time has passed. We forget because there is so much to remember.
